Introduction
The department of Economics initially offered M.Sc. (02 years) Program. The year 2017 proved a milestone as it brought us a full fledge university at Seenlasht, Chitral. The BS Economics Undergraduate 4 Years program was launched in 2017. The Department of Economics is fully equipped with highly qualified faculty and other requisites for best training in the field of Economics. Our diverse faculty members have specialized in different fields of Economics. Currently we have five faculty members, out of which two have done Ph.Ds. and three have done M.Phil. / MS. Our faculty maintain high professional standards with quality teaching and research skills in basic and applied economics with a focus on local and regional needs for the socio-economic development of the country The Department provides a learning opportunity for students in an environment of friendliness, collaboration, and enthusiasm appreciating innovation, creativity and teamwork. We aim to strengthen the critical thinking, analytical reasoning skills & broaden communication & problem solving skills of the students. Our main strength is our BS and M.Sc. program and we plan to offer M.Phil./MS in Economics in near future.
Mission
- The department of Economics is committed to train students at the undergraduate and graduate level with knowledge and skills of modern economics through teaching and research in order to make them capable of critical thinking and independent analysis and to prepare them for the global professional job market.
- To create awareness about the different national and international sources of data
- To provide skills to use Econometrics and Statistical packages.
- To make a significant research contribution on the most pressing issues at local and national level in Pakistan.

The vision of the department is to develop a department as a world-class center of excellence in economic research. Moreover, the department is determined to establish itself among the leading school of Economics at the local, regional and international levels by nurturing the students with a delicate intellectual, cultural, ethical, humane and to be recognized for industry collaboration. Developing a prosperous society, it will make a significant contribution by providing policy advice to the government, the business sector and development agencies.
